Shop Talk: Interview with Becca Hall from Peter Hall & Son Ltd

Can you describe your shop in 3 words...

Artisan, Unique, Inspirational.

Can you talk us through a typical day?

Everyday is different! From locals to tourists, we aspire to create an inviting inspirational environment, working with the brands that best compliment our furniture. We enjoy taking the time to talk to clients about our bespoke handmade furniture and interior design departments. 

Bramwell Brown clocks are inspired by the childhood memories of owners Rob & Sarah.  What inspired you to start your business?

My Grandfather, Peter Hall, started the furniture business, which then grew over time to include wood turning, restoration, upholstery and interior design. In 2015 my Family decided to open a Boutique which focuses on interior accessories that compliment our furniture. We had been talking about it for a long time and decided to take the leap! It has been a new and exciting venture for us, and we feel the shop has been very well received in the community and for tourists. 

What do you love most about your job?

Finding new and unique products and researching trends for the upcoming season. I love watching people look round the shop and talk about what we have on offer as something they haven't seen before. People often say 'its a breath of fresh air to see unique products that you can't get anywhere else.' 

How do you decide which brands are stocked in store?

We visit trade shows throughout the year to search for new and unique products that we think our customers would be really excited by. We spend time getting to know each company and where things are made.  Exclusivity is important to us as we want to offer people products they can't get anywhere else in the area. 

Why did you decide to stock Bramwell Brown clocks?

We instantly fell in love with the Bramwell Brown Clocks and knew they would fit really well along side our handmade furniture and other interiors. Rob and Sarah (who own and run Bramwell Brown) have created such an inspiring company that we love to work with. They have created a unique product that everyone can admire and enjoy. I'm yet to talk to anyone who isn't awed by the clocks! 

If you could choose one Bramwell Brown clock, which one would it be and why?

The Copper Weather Clock. (I treated myself to this one when we first got the clocks in) I love the combination of the copper outer with the cream clock face, and I think the illustrations are beautiful. Swallows are my favourite bird and I love that they feature in the sunny pictures.

At Bramwell Brown we support Spacehive and the Marine Conservation Society as we feel passionate about supporting these organisations, what are the big issues that you feel most passionate about?

We feel most passionate about supporting British made products and local crafts people. There is a lot of talent in the UK and we feel this should be celebrated. We are proud to say that most of our stock has been Made in the UK. 

What is your vision for your business in the future?

Our vision for the future is to work with more artisan makers and British companies who offer something new and exciting that we think our clients would love to have in their home. We will continue to create an inviting environment for our clients where they can enjoy the experience of finding new interiors for their home. We are always changing and evolving so that both locals and tourists see something new when they visit.
